CURRICULUM

Dramatic Corporeal Mime/
Mime corporel Dramatique - Technique (MCD -T) 
All levels (MCD -T1/T2/T3):
(Monday: 9h30 - 12h / Tuesday : 10h - 12h30 / Wednesday: 9h30 - 12h00 / Thursday: 9h30 - 12h/ Friday: 9h30 - 10h30)

Our school conducts professional training courses (initial, advanced and continued) leading to a diploma in Dramatic Corporeal Mime (MCD) fol- lowing the Etienne Decroux technique. The course examines the fundamental principles of the method, initiating the student into his way of analysing movement and his underlying philosophy.

The curriculum is structured around the fundamental themes of this art form such as:

  • Segmentation of the body, articulation of the movement for the movement for the purpose of theatrical expression
  • Using rhythm and muscular comedy, the dynamo-rhythms
  • Study of counterbalance, portrait and comedy of effort
  • Work on displacement of the body in space
  • Stylised gaits (character gaits)
  • Study of dynamic figures to develop the participants’ awareness of form and rhythm.

Physical Expression and Improvisation/
Jeux et Improvisation (J&I)
All Levels (J&I) : (Friday: 10h30 - 12h)
Throughout the school year, improvisation and semi-improvisation themes, entailing solo, duo and group work will be offered, placing the accent on physical expression, interpretation and the creative skills of the participants, by confronting them with the demands of physical theatre.

Corporeal Mime Creative Sessions/
Atelier de Création (AC)

All levels (AC): (once per month, Friday from 10h30 - 12h30)
To assist students in their creative endeavours, creative sessions will be offered one Friday morning per month. These sessions enable the progress of each student to be evaluated with respect to the specifications of the teaching team.

Corporeal Mime Repertory Classes/
Mime Corporel Dramatique – Repertory (MCD-R)

All levels (MCD-R): (Thursday 9h30 - 12h)
Starting from the very beginning on the study of Etienne Decroux’s repertory will be offered. This course gives students a chance to tackle the solo, duo and group pieces that have contributed to the development of the art. Dealing with the essential aspects of human drama, such as the human struggle, work, the passion of love or even dreams, the pieces studied provide students with many opportunities to confront the demands of our Art, while perfecting their corporeal virtuosity and interpretative skills.

The certifying schooling takes place over 2 years (Certificate of the mime artist, years 1 and 2);

The third year “Pépinière”, dedicated to the development of personal projects and Certificate in the Mime teacher (year 3).

The third year (3) is reserved for certified students of the School who wish to deepen the technique of Mime, invest it in their creation and specialize in the transmission and pedagogy specific to Corporeal Dramatic Mime (Pépinière and certificate of Mime Teacher).

Theatrical Acrobatics
Acrobatie Théâtrale (AT)

All levels: (Thursday: 13h - 15h)
The acrobatics course offers physical and acrobatic instruction suitable for both amateur and professional performing artists. To prepare the artist for the physical demands of the corporeal theatre course, these training sessions will concentrate on muscle strength, flexibility and physical resistance. The course invites students to practise floor-based acrobatics, adagio (duo acrobatics) and charivari (group acrobatics). This course also gives students the opportunity to take note of their physical abilities and to establish a relationship of trust with the floor and their partners.

Classical Dance
Danse Classique (DC)

All levels: (Tuesday : 13h30 - 15h)
The classical dance course develops students’ flexibility, musculature and correct posture. This enables students to acquire strength and tone in their movements, endurance and good balance.

Lecture Series or invited artists
Cycle de Conférences (CC)
All levels: (scheduled according to the availability of the speaker or artist)
This course offers lectures and conférences on the art of Mime and Theatre in general, a sort of series of classes dealing with associates arts to Mime, their influences, the founding fathers and the different currents as well as the historical contexts which have witnessed the budding and blooming of this art. It offers contact with invited very well know artists giving so parallels with other art forms (theatre, cinema, dance, puppetry, circus, clowning, etc.).

Individual Work
Travail Personnel (TP)

All levels (TP): (Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday: 15h - 18h)
For 9 hours per week, the classroom is left at the disposal of the students. This time enables students to take on board and perfect the exercises studied during lessons. It also involves the development through individual work of solo, duo or group presentations for which the themes will be proposed by the teaching team. Theatrical Acrobatics courses, being secondary disciplines, are thus no longer considered mandatory for third year students. Nevertheless, we encourage students to participate in all the courses offered, even if they are not specifically relevant to them.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION TEAM - (Teachers et Instructors)

Mime Corporel Dramatique (MCD-T / MCD-R / MCD-J&I / MCD-AC) :
Co - Direction of EIMCD
(Actor, Director and Teacher)
Ivan Bacciocchi received acting training at the Teatro Laboratorio di Cesena directed by Franco Mescolini. A student at the Mime school of Etienne Decroux, founding father of modern Mime, he is invited by the master to participate in his research classes where he assists him in his work.

He worked at the Théâtre de l’Ange Fou, as a teacher and actor participating in the creation of various shows, in which he played the main roles: “the Little Dictator”, “The Invaded Room”, “Au-près du Jardin” and ” The Man Who Would Stay Standing.

He has directed various productions including: “Peter and the Wolf” by Prokofiev, “Bluebeard - True Copy” and an adaptation of “Miles Gloriosus” by Plautus.

He worked in the Théâtre du Mouvement company, participating in the creation of various plays including “Blanc sous le masque”, “Faut-il verre le mime sur Parole” (350 performances in France and abroad) and “Je think so it shows.

Ivan Bacciocchi as a Master of Dramatic Body Mime has also taught at the University of Paris 8, at the Ecole du Samovar, at Studio Magenia, at the National Circus School of Chatellerault, at the Conservatory of Dramatic Art of Cambrai, as a speaker at the Louvre Museum, the Grand Palais and the Musée d’Orsay as well as at the Demonstration Conferences at the National Center of the CNT Theater in Paris, in Brussels and at the Teatro “La Soffita” in Italy.

He taught in different Mime schools including 10 years at the International Mime School of Marcel Marceau. Ivan Bacciocchi as Master of Dramatic Body Mime also taught at ESAD - Ecole Supérieur d’Art Dramatique de Paris.

Theatrcal Acrobatics (AT) :

Marina Golovinskaia acrobatics teacher.
She has been a circus teacher since 2010, after 20 years of work in circus and variety shows around the world. Graduated form  the Moscow Circus School named ” Karandach”. Laureate of several circus festivals in Europe.
Now she works in circus schools in Paris: Cirque & Percussions, Académie Fratellini.

Natalie Stadelmann

Natalie Stadelmann,
had her first experiences in the theater as a member of the artistic group Houdini in Lucerne (Switzerland) which expressed itself mainly in short films and happenings.
In 1993 she was admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Lucerne (Switzerland). After a stint at the “Scuola Teatro Dimitri” (Switzerland), it was at the “Ecole Internationale de Mimodrama Marcel Marceau” in Paris that she received Mime training for 3 years accompanied by university studies in Theater at the Sorbonne. New Paris III.
As a Mime master, she has taught since 1996 in various establishments in Paris and in the Province (3is, Ecole Estienne, Pierre Debauche Theater School, Grand Parc Regional Conservatory of Versaille, Departmental Conservatory of Saint-Germain-en-Laye ) and since 2001 she has closely assisted Ivan Bacciocchi in the educational program of the International School of Dramatic Body Mime to the point of assuming co-direction.
In 2007 she graduated as valedictorian of the Master II in Cultural Mediation (Cultural Management).
With the Commedia Company she participates in the creation of shows including “Pierre and the Wolf” and “Bluebeard” shows performed in France, Germany and Italy. She co-signed with Ivan Bacciocchi the production of “Forest Home” and “Pierr(Oh!)s”, and more recently her production of “Da Capo” performed in France and Italy.
Currently, she divides her professional life between teaching the Art of Dramatic Body Mime, cultural management (management of the EIMCD school) and directing.

Danse Classical Dance (DC) :
Sarah Dhaine
(Classical Dance Teacher)
Sarah Dhaine has been practicing classical dance and mime since childhood. She learned dance in Paris with A. Métaïer then she took lessons from Y. Casati of the Paris National Opera and F. Lazzarelli of the National Ballet of Mexico, and also from W. Byars, a universally recognized teacher.
Curious to deepen her technique, in 2008 she entered the Dramatic Body Mime school under the direction of I. Bacciocchi where she obtained her mime artist diploma. In 2012, while continuing her dance training, her interest in live performance and visual arts led her to join the Japanese percussion group Paris Taiko Ensemble, with whom she learned the art of Wadaiko and participated in various events in France and abroad.
After obtaining her state diploma in classical dance teaching in 2014, always keen to work the body through movement and rhythm, Sarah devoted herself to teaching classical dance for children and adults. adults.
In 2021, alongside her work as a dancer and teacher, she professionalized in the field of taiko (Japanese percussion) by joining the Nika Taiko group and founding the group
Omamori Taiko. Today she draws inspiration from everything she has learned and places emphasis on sensations, musicality and artistic sense. Its classes are open to anyone who wants to learn regardless of their age and physical qualities. The class is a unique moment for everyone whose interest is to have fun and dance!

USEFUL INFORMATION

Total cost of the training course:
  • € 550 incl. tax: enrolment fee* due at the end of the revocation period
  • € 4,950 incl. tax: tuition fees** due in instalments over the training course.training course.du déroulement de l’action de formation.

Target Audience:
The courses are open to professionals in performing arts as well as all persons wishing to acquire qualifications in Dramatic Corporeal Mime and more generally to anyone who feels the need to obtain greater corporeal ease.
The number of participants per class is limited to 18. Applications to enrol are accepted all year round!

Knowledge prerequisites before starting the training course :
The courses are open to professionals in performing arts as well as anyone wishing to acquire qualifications in the art of Mime. There are no real knowledge prerequisites demanded for entry into the first year of training. Nevertheless, the prior practice of a sport or artistic discipline is an important asset.Applications, enrolment fee:
Applications, enrolment  2024/2025 are open as of January 2023. To apply, please send us a duly completed application form with 3 passport photos, your CV and a cover letter. Please include a self- addressed A4 envelope for our reply.
We welcome any additional documents such as USB keys, artistic photos, press cuttings, etc. that will help us establish your profile.
Selection will be based on the application documents. Selected applicants will be informed (by email) and will then receive two original copies of the training agreement by post or mail.
Next, as soon as possible and no later than 1 Septembre 2024, the duly signed and dated training agreement must be returned to the School.
For a ten day period beginning on the date of signature of the agreement, the applicant may revoke the agreement by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.
At expiration of the ten day revocation period, enrollment will be considered confirmed and the enrollment fee of €550 incl. tax will be due.

Payment may be made by cheque (made out to the Association Commedia) or bank transfer. Transfers must be made to the account number of the Association Commedia.
You can request the RIB or IBAN of the Association Commedia account either by telephone or email. (Bank charges for transfers are to be paid by the student).

*The enrolment fee corresponds to the administrative charges incurred on the student’s enrolment and covers all administrative procedures, assistance and file management, assistance with applications for visa, grants and subsidies from third parties such as AFDAS, etc. The enrolment fee is to be paid in full at expiration of the revocation period.

**Tuition fees are linked to training course activities and are voted by the Board of Directors of Association Commedia. Tuition fees may be paid by instalment as the course progresses according to a schedule predetermined by the School and agreed upon by the student. The final instalment must be paid no later than 01.06.2024. Tuition fees are due whether or not the student attends classes regularly. Accordingly, a student who is absent is still required to pay for tuition, regardless of the reason for absence. Tuition fees are due for every academic year commenced.

Cancellation:
If for a duly recognized case of force majeure, the student is unable to continue the training course, the professional training agreement will be terminated. In such a case, only the services actually provided will be charged for, on the basis of the tuition fees, proportional to the value stipulated in the agreement. The application fee will not be reimbursed.

The academic year:
The administrative academic year begins on 30/09/2024. Classes begin on Tuesday 01/10/2024 and end on Friday 20/06/2025.

The year is divided into three trimesters:

  • 1st trimester:  01.10.2024 – 20.12.2024
  • 2nd trimester: 06.01.2025 – 30.03.2025
  • 3rd trimester:  31.03.2025 – 20.06.2025

End-of-year shows are planned for end June 2025 (date to be set!)
