THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM 

MIME EVENING SCHOOL - EVENING CLASSES-  CS

Located in Montreuil, just on the outskirts of Paris, The International School of Dramatic Corporeal Mime is a place of initial and continuing training in gestural theatre. Each year it accepts students from different backgrounds and countries, all wishing to deepen their understanding of physical theatre, and to assimilate the essential fundamentals of the art of Etienne Decroux‘s Corporeal Mime. We propose an examination of the fundamental principals, thus beginning from an analysis of movement and philosophical thought. This study pivots around the founding themes of the art, which are as follows:

• Physical segmentation, articulation of movement in the service of dramatic expression
• Work on rhythm and muscular performance
• Study of counterweights, a portrait of effort
• Work on displacement of the body through space
• Stylised walks (character walks)
• A study of dynamic figures to sensitise participants in form and rhythm.

Interested participants:
The courses are open to anyone driven by the desire to acquire training in Dramatic Corporeal Mime, to performing artists and more generally to those who feel the need to acquire greater physical lightness.
